discordway weapons question - Guild Wars Forums

Sorting out the weapon sets for this build & have a question about the spear/sheild set for the sorror discord necro

On pvxwiki it just says +30hp spear & sheild but whatr about the other stats ?

Would they be :

1) spear = poisonous spearhead & 10% HCT of spells inscription ?

2) shield = 20% chance +1 death magic inscription ? (I just happen to have a gold shield with one of these)

Also pvxwiki recommends a +30hp spear but wouldn't a 20% enchant be better since the build has 5 enchant spells ?

BTW I have noticed that from my experience virtually everybody seems to run discord & not sabway in PVE but that they dont have the correct player build to hex+condition foes or even bother to call targets

Just wondering how effective discord is without the above compared to sabway where the player doesnt need to do anything to help the necros

As a final question I was just wondering about the other 2 necros using PWK most of the time & so losing there weapon benefits - how come PWK is considered more important than some other skill that allows the necros to still have the benefits of their weapons ?

I run discord all the time with no weapons other than the weapons the heroes originally have. They do absolutely fine. Naturally with the correct weapons they will be slightly better, but they do work without a hitch even without the right weapons.

I personally prefer running 40/40 sets for Discord Heroes. 40/40 Death on my MM, 40/40 Resto on my healer and 20/20 all on my Curse/heal support.

If you want to run spear/shield sets go with +5E insc and either +5al, +7al vs ele/phys, or +30hp, depending on personall preference on your spear. The shield should have +30hp and +armour vs something mod.

PWK gives +10 armour, and is a great party heal.

D-way really needs a player to supply a hex and condition, as the heroes are usually slow in doing this themselves, I prefer Sabway for doing AFK stuff.

I am tempted to just use my deldrimor soul reaping staff or my travellers walking stick

However would still like to at least know about the "best" choices

i use soul reaping staffs on all 3 necs with hale staff head+HP staff wrapping none have inscriptions atm but they work very well, especially with me using a caller build

I like keeping my necros flexible, since I sometimes use them for purposes other than my discord team. My MM has a 40/40 death set, which is good with any minion build. My curses necro has a 20/20 curses staff, which works well enough for either discord or non-discord builds. My healer necro uses a soul-reaping staff, and becomes my blood necro when I need one.

I usually like to give this staff to my heroes: Kerrsh's Staff
As I can then switch from my ele to my MM or whatever.
As far as runes is concerned, I give minors death/malediction according to the heroes + a minor soul reaping and a Bloodstained insigna on my MM (Reduces casting time of spells that exploit corpses by 25% (Non-stacking) )

If you are casting mark or pain, try giving them spears (except for any that have Protective was Kao where they will be holding an item instead). Collector's weapons work fine, especially for 20/20 death foci. You can also get a 20/20 wand in Vasburg Armory (or it's Luxon equivalent) for 5k + some materials. Kerssh's Staff always works great too.

Curser: +5e, +30, +33% weakness Spear, 20/20 resto Focus
MM: +5e, 20ench, +33% poison spear, 20/20 death focus
Healer: 40/40 resto set

I use the 20/20 and 40/40 resto sets for PWK on both my curser and healer.
+33% weakness for enfeebling, +33% poison for death nova.
And they're all VSs and tormented wands/focuses should anyone care.

i know this probably isnt the answer u were looking for... but as long as ur heros are runed... it doesnt matter what weapons ur heros have because they are so OP that they will steamroll through most HM stuff... and in some cases where they cant.. equipment wont be the deciding factor in completing the area or not...

wut i would do is throw spear and shield with preferably +30's on them (or +7vs ele or phys if u know what ur up against) if you are a melee class because having a spear and shield tricks the enemy AI into thinking they are melee fighters and they will soak up blind/weakness for u... it will also prevent them from getting caster hate hexes and crap...

but like i said it makes no difference whatsoever... personally i was too lazy to buy that crap so i just threw random death staffs on them....

Lastly i like sabway better than discord in a 1 man situation... if i have partner i like double discordway a lot because u can have like 9999999 minions and spike 2 at a time if u both take different targets...

EDIT: oh ya not to mention that if ur heros have one of those ashes spells they are gonna be holding it 90% of the time

As I mentioned earlier, don't forget that you can get a 20/20 focus from many collectors (this site on the front page has a tool for helping you find collector weapons). Unfortunately you can't get a 20/20 wand but you CAN get a 20/20 wand from the weapons guy in Factions (Getrud in Vasburg armory for example). A lot of people don't know this and worry about spending 20k for that ridiculously expensive "Forget Me Not" inscription.

On my necro char with 3 discord heros i use spears with +30hp +5e and poisonous/weakness spearheads. I use silencing/enchant/weakness spearheads on swap deemding on if i have mindbender or technobabble on my bar.

for an offhand i use the Bison Cup on myself and all 3 heros. for the armor/energy but in my ele's disco heros i use basically what Atomisk uses because i think it's best option.

I also use +1 death runes not +3. If you have Mark of pain/assassins promise on your bar then use spears. You'll love it.

on my monk with the 3 necro discord heroes i use my spear that i normally use for monking. its more for calling out targets (crippling, +5e, 20% enchant).

my necros use 40/40 sets (resto, resto, death).
